BUSINESSES CREATED 1.4 MILLION JOBS ANNUALLY OVER THE LAST DECADE
Entrepreneurship and capital investment by rich people are responsible for businesses that created 1.4 million jobs annually over the last decade. Americans couldn’t live without cell phones, laptops, [iPhones], high-definition TV’s, and new medical procedures – innovations produced from the investments of wealthy individuals that have helped people throughout society get richer.
TEN YEARS AFTER THE FALL OF THE BERLIN WALL, A GROUP OF RUSSIAN OFFICERS VISITED THE U.S. THEY TOOK A TOUR OF THE LOCAL COMMUNITY…
“The author couldn’t help but notice the rather solemn demeanor of one of the Russian officers…this Russian gestured around him. “All of my life, I have been lied to,” he said…”This thing,” the Russian gestured again to the wonder all around him: the pleasant homes; the constant flow of clean water; the dependable sources of energy; the cars; the free press; the ability of the citizens to gather and speak and write what they wanted; the fact that one did not need to be someone of know someone in order to succeed; the fact that Americans did not fear a knock on the door at night…” —Chris and Ted Stewart
SINGAPORE’S FREE MARKET CAPITALISM VS. INDONESIA’S SOCIALISM
These two countries are within a few miles of each other. In fact, you can see the other’s islands from the shores of each country. But the two countries could not be more different. Singapore engages in free market capitalism and their Economic Freedom Rank is 2nd in the world. At the time of this writing they are the 3rd richest country in the world per capita. Indonesia, on the other hand, is governed by a socialist government. Indonesia’s Economic Freedom Rank is 99th in the world and they are the 3rd poorest country in Asia. Imagine having to live in the poverty of Indonesia and witness from your shores Singapore’s prosperity on a daily basis. How frustrating to think that you were born just 28 miles too far from that free market capitalism.
I CALL [DECIMATED BLACK COMMUNITIES] THE URBAN “PLANTATION.”
“And it’s actually remarkable how similar the urban plantation is to the old rural plantation. This is not just some kind of general analogy. Think of the ram shackle dwellings of slave quarters on the slave plantation — you can find those [today] in inner city Oakland. Think about the amount of violence that’s necessary to hold the place together because slavery was based on force. Similarly today, cops have the toughest jobs in the inner city just holding the place together.” -Dinesh D’Souza
THE FULL-BLOWN ECONOMIC COLLAPSE THAT IS HAPPENING IN VENEZUELA RIGHT NOW IS A PREVIEW OF AMERICA’S NOT TOO DISTANT FUTURE
“Just a few years ago, most Venezuelans could never have imagined that food shortages would become so severe that people would literally hunt dogs and cats for food…this is now taking place. This is what the endgame of socialism looks like. When an all-powerful government is elevated far above all other institutions in society and radical leftists are given the keys to the kingdom…food shortages, looting and rampant violent crime…breakdown of basic social services…Institutional destruction is also a legacy of the Obama regime.” -Michael Snyder
A SICK SYSTEM: “Since people are not decent and compassionate enough to assist their deserving fellows in distress, we must expect them to somehow elect politicians who are more decent and compassionate than they are. Those politicians will then take money from them under threat of imprisonment, launder it through an expensive bureaucracy, and spend what’s left not to actually solve the [poverty] problem but to manage it into perpetuity for endless dependency, demagoguery and political gain.” – Lawrence W. Reed
You are responsible for yourself and your family. “The government cannot be responsible for your prosperity, any more than your doctor can be responsible for your health, or your church/temple/synagogue can be responsible for your spirituality. If you want to be prosperous, you have to take responsibility for that yourself.” – Randy Gage
When I was in Beijing I was quickly shushed by the taxi driver for saying a critical comment about China’s communist government. He said I couldn’t criticize the government. No one can.
When I was in Singapore, the local Singaporeans grumbled about how they couldn’t rely on their newspapers because the government owned the sole media outlet in Singapore. They had to get their news from overseas.
COMMUNISM HAS FAILED EVERY SINGLE TIME (AND MURDERED HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE)
“25 million dead through internal repression in the Soviet Union. 60 million dead in Mao’s China (and an all-too-likely return to autocratic oppression in that country in the near future). The horrors of Cambodia’s Killing Fields, with their 2 million corpses. The barely animate body politic of Cuba, where people struggle even now to feed themselves. Venezuela, where it has now been made illegal to attribute a child’s death in hospital to starvation. No political experiment has ever been tried so widely (as communism)…and failed so absolutely.”
