Singapore’s ‘George Washington’ Passes Away and What America Can Re-Learn from Him (article)

Rest in peace Mr. Lee Kuan Yew.

Modern day Singapore would not exist without this extraordinary man. Just like America's founding fathers, he was willing to do some of the hard things that make a nation prosperous. Free markets, capitalism, anti-welfare, and no minimum wage helped Singapore prosper. Despite the lack of individual liberty for Singaporeans, the man understood free markets and capitalism and his economic policies were the reason he was able to turn Singapore from a third world country into a first world country in a matter of a few decades. He elevated the lifestyles of all Singaporeans significantly.

Senator Rand Paul’s speech makes me want to jump for joy

Do you want to know why Republican Senator Rand Paul standing up, fighting for our rights, and telling the truth about the Obama administration trampling on the Constitution is good for you? If you don't already know the answer, here it is: it's because every country in the world, modern and ancient, that has citizens with limited freedoms and prosperity, have their liberties taken away by the overreaching powers of their governments.

A government trampling on your rights screws with the quality of your life.

Paul said the message (regarding the open letter to Iran) was actually to President Obama. “The message I was sending was to you. The message was to President Obama, that we want you to obey the law, we want you to understand the separation of powers.”

“I signed it to an administration that doesn’t listen, to an administration that at every turn tries to go around Congress, because you think you can’t get your way,” he added. “The president says, ‘oh, the Congress won’t do what I want, so I’ve got a pen and I’ve got my phone and I’m going to do what I want.’ The letter was to you.”

How understanding economics and liberty changed my left-wing liberal stance (article)

It was 2007, a little under a year away from the very memorable 2008 presidential election. It was a very chilly, winter evening in Los Angeles (the temps were in the high 40s!!), I was cozied up on the couch with my then boyfriend watching the political debates. These debates were before the primaries. It was pretty much the first time I had ever paid real, lasting attention to any type of political debate in my life, they had always seemed so boring before.

It seemed exciting this time and there was a charge in the air. Maybe it was for the same reasons that so many others were fascinated with the election that year - the fact that Barack Obama was running for president. Hilary Clinton made it interesting as well. The possibility of either America's first black president or first woman president was alluring. Plus, there was the big housing crash that had just occurred and spiraled so many people into financial ruin.

How Misguided Solutions for Illegal Immigration Affects Your Wallet (article)

PanAm Post wrote an article in June about the out of control number of illegal Guatemalan minor immigrants that were flowing into the U.S. with no guardians. They kindly asked me for my thoughts on the problematic situation and I sent over my reply. They only published a portion of my response so I wanted to publish my entire answer because I think it's important.

Here's my non-PC opinion on where the solutions need to come from. Illegal immigration is expensive for Americans. At a time of such economic anguish for our own citizens, we need to really understand what the root problems are and who actually has the ability to fix these issues.

4 Important Things About Money I Bet You Didn’t Know

I've been hurt by it. I've cried over it. I've dreamed about it. I've made future goals with it. We have joyful moments together. We have a past. We have a present. Hopefully, we will have a full and prosperous future together. My boyfriend? No no. I'm talking about money.

We all have stories about money in our lives. It's a relationship. And like members of the opposite sex, if you don't really understand how it works in general, you won't know how to apply it successfully to your life. For example, the woman who doesn't realize that many men want the chase when pursuing a woman, might make the mistake of instead chasing her dream guy and squashing his attraction for her before it ever even got off the ground.

Same with money (and prosperity for that matter). If you don't understand general properties of it, you might squash your chances of attracting more of it into your life. Or you could lose what you've already got.

7 Little Known Reasons Women Can’t Find a Good Man

Love is the most important thing in my life. I'm extremely loyal to my family and friends. I cherish time with my loved ones.  But nothing beats my relationship with my man. I treasure the cuddles, the intimacy (emotional, physical, and intellectual), the commitment, having a best friend who knows and accepts everything about me, the romance, and every gorgeous thing that goes along with a healthy romantic relationship. Every woman I know agrees with this and wants it in their life. Every sane woman wants a good man.

Something ominous is happening though. There aren't as many men. They are disappearing. Like aliens are snatching them up from the sky. What's weird is there are a lot of "boys" around now. And they're kind of old. Like late 20's and 30's. There's even some in their 40's. And they live with their parents. With no job.

The three things a man needs in his life before he can commit to a woman fully.

When Should You Marry For Money?

MARRYING FOR MONEY. NO, THIS ISN'T ANOTHER "HOUSEWIVES" EPISODE. IT'S BEEN THE BASIS FOR MARRIAGE THROUGHOUT HISTORY.

Americans marry for LOVE. Well, most of them do anyway. This may seem like a normal statement to make, but when placed in a historical context, the idea of marrying for love is unusual.

Even in modern times, when there is more freedom in the world overall, America has more people marrying for love than anywhere else in the world. "Prior to the mid 1800s, a majority of people married for social, economic, or political reasons. Marriage partners were generally chosen by family members, not the individuals getting married. After the Industrial Revolution, the basis of marriage began shifting toward love and personal fulfillment. " So what was it about the Industrial Revolution and freedom that changed marriage from a financial deal to emotional love?

Do You Recognize the Early Warning Signs of a Housing Crash?

ALL MORTGAGES ARE NOT CREATED EQUAL

It's clear that many people want the 411 on what exactly happened with the housing crash. This explanation in no way implies I even know what I'm talking about, after all I am not an economist. But somehow the economists don't seem to know very much about it either so I figure I'll give it a try!

We all have an idea in our heads of what our dream house looks like. If you're lucky enough to be living in it, good for you. But most of us are losing that dream. We live in a country where most of us don't worry about basic necessities on a daily basis, like so many others around the world. But that's starting to change. Is this what Obama meant by "hope & change?"

The Great Rewards of Self-Reliance

LIBERTY AND LUXURY

America was the first country in the world where the majority of its citizens could enjoy luxuries as everyday niceties. As opposed to all other countries where only the small elite or royalty had the prosperity to enjoy luxuries (because they carried all their nation's wealth, most likely because they took it all from their citizens through taxes). Know why? Because of freedom and property rights. Those principles create a free, open playing field filled with all kinds of opportunities for Americans to succeed!

Government does not cause affluence.* They always provide the grossest bare minimum things. Who likes the way government runs or provides anything? Not a darn person. Government doesn't manage things very well. They don't build cars well. They don't operate airlines well. They can't install telephones. Their health care sucks. They couldn't foresee the housing bubble, the S&A debacle, or the internet crash. Government programs are always marginal and bare bones - which even that bankrupts the nation. America is about the American Dream, not the American "that's good enough."
