“I used to be very ambivalent about government and economics. I was more interested in my acting career, or my modeling jobs, or my boyfriend, or hanging out with friends to be bothered. It wasn’t until I started reading up on Austrian Economics (WAY easier to understand than most people realize), the Constitution, and a little bit about American history and World history, that I began to really connect the dots and see that the economy and the actions of government directly affect all the things in my life that matter.

My parents are heroic. My grandparents are heroic. Their stories are truly fantastical to any mainstream American. They don’t even sound real, they sound made up. Stories of seeing their neighbors stabbed with bayonets in the street. Stories of the police raiding my grandparents’ house for hidden money on a consistent basis and confiscating it whenever they found some. Stories of my grandfather jumping a train headed to a Siberian concentration camp, getting riddled with bullets, and still escaping death. Stories of seeing my great-grandparents shot dead right there in their front doorway. Stories of abuse, rape, and torture. Sad stories. Stories that rip my heart apart. And it’s all because my family lived in places that didn’t have freedom. They lived in places where tyrannical governments said they would provide essentials and rights to their citizens, but instead just stole from them, exploited them, and many times killed them.

I grew up in suburban Denver. Know what my hardship was? I was the poorer middle class kid, in the best school in the state, with a bunch of rich kids. I mean, it’s not war, genocide, theft, and tyranny. But I struggled. There were lunchtimes where I was dressed worse than everybody else. I’m. a Warrior.

Not quite the same experience as my parents and grandparents. Compared to the rest of the world, I grew up in ridiculous luxury. I was blessed with the unconditional love of incredible parents. I had every opportunity available to me if I decided to pursue it and work for it. My life has been nothing short of spectacular and it is because America provided liberties and opportunities that are not available in other corners of the world. But our liberties are disappearing. Our prosperity is disappearing. Our opportunities are disappearing. And our government looks and sounds more and more like the socialist countries my parents escaped from. I believe that if we’re not all properly educated and involved in the free American system, we may as well kiss it goodbye. “
